Cheapest Fuel Prices

Are you paying too much for your petrol and diesel? A check on the cheapest fuel prices in your area could save you £'s.

It is now law, that fuel stations have to update their fuel prices online every 30 minutes. This is excellent news for the Bargain Hound and his followers!

A spot check of diesel prices in the Bargain Hound's home town of Rugby, Warwickshire one rainy February afternoon produced the following results:-

	Texaco	139.9	£69.95
	Sainsbury's	140.9	£70.45
	BP	141.9	£70.95
	Esso	141.9	£70.95

	Shell	142.9	£71.45
	BP - M6 Jn1 Moto Services	170.9	£85.45

Asda were the cheapest closely followed by Tesco and Texaco. The most expensive by far was BP at the Moto Services at Junction One of the M6 which was a whopping £15.60 more expensive than Asda for a 50 litre fill up!

There are other factors to take in to account when choosing where to fill up such as loyalty cards, convenience, how long you have to queue up etc but if you are a heavy user of fuel its well worth a check to see where the cheapest fuel prices can be found.

The wonderful world of fuel price comparison can throw up some strange results. Asda in Rugby is just over 12 miles away from one of the Asda's in Coventry but the Coventry store are offering diesel at 136.7 pence per litre (3p cheaper than Rugby) which works out as £68.35 for a 50 litre fill up, a difference of £1.50! Very harsh on the people of Rugby! If you are a heavy fuel user it may save you £'s by not necessarily fuelling up where you live but possibly where you work or somewhere in between....

There are a few websites that offer the cheapest fuel prices but our favourite is checkfuelprices.co.uk. You enter your postcode and the fuel type you're interested in and it lists all the latest prices in your local area. You can filter by distance or by price.
